Medical Account Receivable Specialist

 We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist with hands-on experience in healthcare billing and insurance collections. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with insurance portals, EOBs, and aging reports and has experience using Athena (athenahealth) to manage claims and payments.

• Manage medical accounts receivable and aging reports
• Follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid insurance claims
• Work with commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Post insurance and patient payments accurately in Athena
• Review EOBs and identify denials or underpayments
• Correct claim errors and resubmit claims through Athena
• Communicate with insurance companies and internal teams
• Maintain accurate documentation and AR records
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and billing guidelines

• Minimum 1 year experience in Medical Accounts Receivable or medical billing
• Hands-on experience using Athena (athenahealth)
• Strong knowledge of insurance follow-ups and AR workflows
• Experience interpreting EOBs and remittance advice
• Familiarity with insurance portals (Availity or similar)
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Preferred (Nice to Have)
• Experience with US healthcare clients
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and basic claim correction
• Background in a medical office or healthcare setting
